Coach Julie is originally from Portland, Michigan and started playing softball around the age of 5. She played for 4 years at Portland High School as a starting pitcher and has since been inducted into the Portland High School Softball Hall of Fame as well as the Portland High School Hall of Fame. She played for 4 years for Oakland University, a D1 college in Rochester, MI as a pitcher. She was recently inducted into the Oakland University Hall of Honor in 2025.

 

After college, she coached at Oakland University for one season, Colorado College for one season, and Douglas County High School for two seasons. She also gave individual pitching lessons for over 18 years to girls ranging from 6 to 18 years old.

 

In addition to coaching softball, she also has coached baseball, basketball and volleyball for her kids.
